NCIS: LA

I'm going to be completely and totally honest: I don't know that I've ever given this show a fair chance, even during the initial two-part NCIS episodes. Maybe it's because I'm already addicted to one show and didn't really feel the need to become addicted to another, or maybe because in my opinion, the original ain't broke, so why fix it?

I've watched a few episodes though I find myself not really paying attention. Nothing about them catches my attention. Tonight, I tuned in because of Abby's guest appearance and I think I finally narrowed down exactly what I'm having a problem with when it comes to this show.

First of all, I feel like it's way too many characters. Yes, the original NCIS team has eight characters, though only four of them are in the spotlight for the majority of time. I like that. I feel like I'm able to connect with those four better because everyone's not thrown into my face all at one time. I'm not saying the  LA characters are not likable, because hello? How freakin' adorable is Eric? I just feel like with so many people on the screen at one time, I'm too busy jumping around between them to really get a feel for them.

Another thing that bothers me about the show is the all the technology. Yes, it's pretty darn cool, but at some points, I almost feel like it's a bit of an overkill. I consider myself to be pretty technologically savvy (at least to some extent), but really, this must be what Gibbs feels like around McGee.

And what's up with the crossovers between the characters and storylines? A few weeks ago, during the whole Kai thing, I felt obligated to watch LA so that I wasn't lost during NCIS. I have a big problem with that. I don't want to feel obligated to watch one show so that I can keep up on another. I preferred tonight's episode over that one because I didn't feel like I actually had to watch, that I would be missing some big, epic thing if I didn't.

I'm not ready to completely give up on this show, and maybe next time I watch, I'll actually attempt to give it a fair shot, but for now, I'm off to watch my future husband (AKA Michael Weatherly) in The Colony.
